“RARA AVIS”- Images from my Degree Collection inspired by Slavic folk tales and the Arthur Rackham’s illustrations.
In Latin Rara Avis means rare bird. It also means an unusual, uncommon, or exceptional person or thing. The bird was the Surrealists symbol of metamorphosis from earthly to divine – the most elegant transformation. Swans feature strongly in mythology in many cultures.
